Learn
the story of Captain Scott Smiley,
the young hero who inspired the founding of SSV.

In 2005, US Military Academy (West Point) classmates Jerry Gabig, Will Webb and another Huntsville, Alabama CEO were praying for Will's son David and his Army colleagues who were deployed to Iraq, including David's best friend and fellow platoon leader, Scotty (Scott Smiley), who was critically injured by an IED.
Will went to Walter Reed Army Medical Center (WRAMC) to see Scotty, and later found out that (then) Major General Jim and Becky Pillsbury (Redstone Arsenal, Alabama Commanding General and his spouse) had been to WRAMC to comfort wounded warriors as well.  They all compared notes about "doing something to help Scott Smiley and other wounded warriors like him"...and Still Serving Veterans (SSV) was birthed.
