A 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, Still Serving Veterans works to empower Veterans and their families to optimally transition into post-military lives through workforce development, assistance obtaining all the benefits and services they have earned and deserve, and quality referrals to existing local, State, and National services. SSV staff is comprised of Veterans as well as civilians with extensive experience working with Veterans and their families. Staff has daily interactions with Veterans, works with Veteran Businesses, and coordinates employment opportunities with the 450 SDVOBs in Alabama. SSV staff also attends, and are members of, local interagency meetings so that they might address the Health and Human Service needs of Madison County. As a member of the North Alabama Veterans Fraternal Organizations Coalition (NAVFOC), SSV conducts monthly meetings with each agency to communicate the needs of our Veterans in Madison County and beyond. SSV also partners with OneStop Career Centers, The Department of Veteran Affairs, and the local Vet Center whose mission is to provide counseling to Veterans.

This community supported effort is making a significant difference in the lives of our Veteran heroes and their families through one-on-one, caring case management and advocacy focused on maximization of benefits and services, job placement, and career transition. SSV also serves as a proactive clearing house/control center linking Veterans with existing government, public, and private sector support services. In 2012, SSV opened 573 new Veteran cases, conducted 3,499 one-on-one counseling sessions for Veterans, secured over $7.7 million for our Veteran clients, and helped 164 Veterans get hired, and made nearly 1,000 quality referrals.
