May of next year will mark the one year anniversary of our East Alabama office finding a permanent home in Phenix City, AL - it's almost hard to believe the amount of growth endured and accomplishments made in such a short time. The satellite office focuses on Veteran Employment Services and Community Integration and makes referrals to the North Alabama office or other local VA reps for VA Benefits & Claims Assistance. Even though the East Alabama office operates on a smaller scale, they have still managed to make waves in the community - and they won't be the last new installment to the Still Serving Veterans family.
Our East Alabama office operates with a fraction of the staff that the North Alabama office does and still maintains an equivalent Veteran-hired-rate, quite the feat considering the amount of time spent immersed in the community. The office itself is also expanding with a recent new hire to add to the 2-person full-time staff already in place: Charlie Livings as Regional Director, SFC (R) Jeremy Ellis, USA as Chief of Veteran Employment, and now SSG (R) Linda Sterling, USA as Community Integration Coordinator.
This expansion was in large due to a generous grant from the Call of Duty Endowment (CODE) in early 2013. CODE recognized Still Serving Veterans' efforts in the way of Veteran Employment and awarded us with the Seal of Distinction as well as funding for our Veteran Employment Services and geographical expansion.
Thanks to the successes of both the East Alabama and North Alabama offices, Still Serving Veterans is already looking to expand yet again with an office - most likely - in Jefferson County, around the Birmingham area. As the year comes to an end we are all excited to find out the results of all the hard work and plans for the new year!
