SSG (R) Linda Sterling, USA, will serve as the Community Integration Coordinator

Our East Alabama team, located in Phenix City, has added a new member. A Veteran herself, SSG (R) Linda Sterling, USA, will serve as the Community Integration Coordinator. In this role Sterling will utilize her social work experience to assess Veteran clients’ needs while reaching out into the community to other professionals and organizations to help achieve Still Serving Veterans’ goal of creating a net of support through which no Veteran can fall.

“Linda will be a perfect fit for this role,” stated Charles Livings, East Alabama Regional Director for Still Serving Veterans, “Her military and advocacy background as well as community involvement is just what our Veterans need.  Linda is someone they can relate to and who knows how to get them the assistance they require. We are excited about the dynamism and energy that Linda brings to our team in order to fulfill our Community Integration mission here in East Alabama.”

Sterling, a Pennsylvania native, served 32 years in the armed forces. During her service she fulfilled many roles such as Patient Administration Specialist, Equal Opportunity Representative, Unit Victim Advocate, and Deployable Sexual Assault Response Coordinator – to name a few. Following her advocate-based responsibilities in the service, Sterling acquired a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and is currently pursuing a Master’s of Social Work. Additionally, Sterling is an active member of the Women’s Fellowship Ministry, Youth Ministry, Praise Team, and choir of Christian Valley Church.

With Still Serving Veterans, Sterling will be responsible for reaching out into the community to identify quality resources (to include financial, food, shelter, and career assistance), assessing client needs, matching clients with resource providers, organizing networking and volunteer opportunities for clients, and providing a team approach to client issues and advancing the SSV mission.
